Woman with children tells man she's been dating for 3 weeks to get rid of his cats or she'll leave him, he makes the right choice: 'I wasn't asking them to get rid of any of their kids'

When it comes to new relationships, it's extremely important to look at how your partner treats your cat. We cannot stress this enough. The way that people treat animals in general is something to look at, we think, but especially your pets. How they feel about animals doesn't matter. They should care about your pet because you do. If your partner gets jealous of your cat, if your partner mistreats your cat, if your partner doesn't seem to care or put any effort at all into making your pet like them… these are all red flags. 

And if the person that you have been dating for three weeks gives you an ultimatum: it's either me or the cats… Well, we think that the choice is quite simple. And we are happy to report that, unlike in some other cases, this person made the right choice. And on top of making the right choice and sharing their pawsome story with the internet, they decided to bless us all with a picture of the cats that they chose.

  • There is truly only one correct option in this situation, and you chose it. We hope that we don't actually need to say it, but in case we do: this is a red flag. A person who you have been dating for three weeks have no right to dictate your life, definitely not in this way.

  • We honestly think that some people are not even able to hear themselves in situations like this. This person was either someone who didn't understand animals and their well being at all, or it's someone who did understand and simply didn't care. Either way, you made the right choice.

We had just gone to the grocery store to buy some food to make dinner with and on the way back she said "well you know if this goes any further you are gonna have to get rid of your cats" Needless to say I made that dinner by myself that night and gave some to my cats
